Bandit

Bandit is a supreme example of what a modern competiton horse should be.

He has a near perfect conformation for both performance and long term soundness coupled with an excellent temperament and attitude to his work.

He is OCD free both for himself and his motherline - having acheived the new KWPN Prok predicat.

Bandit is by Negro out of a mother proving her value as a brood mare.

Full sister Annemoon acheived her IBOP examination and Upper made it to the 2nd round of the stallion selections.

Bandit is approved in Holland by the AES - although currently only concentrating on his dressage career.

He has already shown much promise - having competed at two premier league events.

Finishing in the top 10 of both national and international 4 year old classes at Addington this summer.

Following client feedback, this year the whole arena will be available for competitors to trot around at the start. We now have one judges box at C and a car at B. You will be able to trot around the whole arena.

Eligibility

Combinations competing at Winter/Summer Regional Championships will not be eligible for any Area Festivals at that level or below in the same calendar year with the exception of Freestyle to Music classes when they will only lose their eligibility to compete in Area Festivals if they compete at the Winter Championships or Wellington Championships.

New web stream for better availability

Another customer comment was that the live video was a great idea but getting on to the service was difficult.
This year we are teaming up with another provider to hopefully provide a better quality of service.

BSJA competitors - we need your details

Due to a change in the data protection policy at the BSJA headoffice, we are no longer able to obtain your details from them.

This will no doubt make communication rather difficult and so we are appealing to you all to register on the internet and update all your details.

This way we can provide you with current information on what is happening at Kingswood.

Unaffiliated clear round cancelled

Due to time contstraints on our evening unaffiliated events, and the need to run the Shires qualifiers, we will be cancelling clear round at Summer events with immediate effect.

An updated schedule may be found at http://www.kingswoodec.com/news/templates/?a=157&z=47

iPhone web app launches

Kingswood has once again lead the UK equestrian market, with a dedicated iPhone web app site.

Currently showing schedules, dates, directions and contact information, this provides all the iPhone user needs at fast speeds over GSM and 3G networks.

BT Open Zone arrives in the cafe

For users of 02 mobile phones and also those requiring access to the internet through lap tops and other phones we have launched BT Open Zone in out cafe.

This service is easy to set up and many users of other services will find it free to access.

More information is available in the cafe

Twitter and Facebook

You may well have noticed the introduction of both Twitter and Facebook onto the main page of the web site.

Twitter is particularly useful as it allows us to post short notices. If you are a member of Twitter - or indeed why not sign up - this will feed our notices directly to you.

Hopefully we will keep this useful and not too regular so as to bombard you with information.

The facebook site is now finished and we aim to make more use of this in the coming months.

Amazing - SOLD

Amazing is a son of the great Negro from a mother line with proven dressage performance.
He is a world class find of a life time - with 3 dazzling paces and a temperament and trainability to match.

Click here to view his interactive pedigree

Negro

The KWPN licensed stallion Negro has been proclaimed Keur stallion. He will be honoured at the 2009 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, on February 6, 2009. Besides Negro, the show jumping stallion Larino (by Concorde) received the keur predicate. The jumper Heartbreaker (by Nimmerdor x Silvano) was proclaimed preferent sire for his and his offspring's outstanding achievements in the jumping sport.

The 13-year old black Dutch warmblood stallion Negro is by Ferro out of keur mare Fewrie (by Variant x Gondelier). Under owner Anne van Olst, he won the KWPN Stallion Competition in 2000 and 2001 and was the best performing Dutch horse at the 2001 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany. A severe injury abruptly ended the short sport career of this stallion.

Negro, which was initially named Novabor, was bred by Mr Borgers from Lunteren, The Netherlands. The stallion has a dressage index of 143 points with a large group of offspring excelling in sport. For instance, Tardi became the 2004 Danish Young Horse Champion, Valegro was the British Young Horse champion under Carl Hester, and Troy became the 2006 Champion at Dutch Dressage Championships Z1 Level.

Mother Line

His mother, remarkably scored higher in her jumping than dressage - with a correspondingly higher index. However, the strength of performance horses in the Holstein family 1614 is his strength from a breeding point of view.

Amazing's breeder NA den Rooyen very recognisable in sport, being the breeder of Goldex (Garanco x Majestic elite v.Concorde) who was a 1.50m winner in La Coruna in 2008, the ride of Darrell Thickett in the 2003 World Breeding Championships - Rex and Jackson Reed Stevenson's horse Rolex (Coldex).

From the Holstein Stamm Line 1614 the depth in both jumping and dressage blood dates back to Hansa born 1911! Included in this breed profile are a complete 4 generation mother line of elite sport mares and the 1999 national foal auction champion Salady

New Andrew Bowen outdoor arena

Finished in the nick of time for our 3rd April Shearwater day, we have a lovely new riding surface for the summer.

Based on tried and tested technology, this will provide Kingswood with excellent going for the next 10+ years.

We would like to thank the Andrews Bowen team for such an excellent job - from discussion to completing in less than 4 weeks!

New outdoor warm up for show jumping

Answering the requests of show jumping riders (for the past 6 years!) we have refurbished the other outdoor arena, which is now to be used for warming up at BSJA and UASJ competitions.

The surface is direct from the main outdoor arena and will provide an ideal warming up solution.

An all weather drive links the two outdoor arena, with grass standing for horse and rider to watch the show.

Additional features in the cafe

During the summer, we will finally be implementing the Arena TV project - allowing viewing of the main arena from the cafe on the big screen.

We will also link this with a class display system showing clear rounds, current leader board etc

On a food and beverage note, we will be stocking ice creams throughout the summer and have a new smoothie making machine. More on the Gossip page

New BSJA schedule for 2009

To mark the upgrading of our outdoor arena, we will see a regular return of 1.30m competition to Kingswood. Out schedules have been very carefully thought out to manage what other shows are on in the area.

We are catering from 70 cms - 1.30m as often as possible.

Entries for Class 1 and 2 will be accepted on the day, before 09:00 providing the pre entries for each class are less than 60. Any entries taken on the day will compete first in the drawn order. Once entries reach 60 before 09:00 on the show day the class will be closed.

Our thanks to the sponsors KBIS Insurance for providing £100 towards the prize fund. As a result of this, the £100 first prize class will be £20 and not £22 as normal for the entry fee.

Online entries will be activated for this event as soon as we have finalised the system.

PetPlan Area Festival

This event now has its own dedicated microsite. This can be found at

http://kingswoodec.com/shows/areafestival/

and will be regularly updates with news and information on the event.

We will have a camera team at this event filming - with class DVD for sale. The event will also be broadcast live on the internet.

We are also very luck to have one of the best real time photographers at this event - who will be printing pictures during the day on-site

The new web site!

Last but by no means least, this newsletter marks the launch of our new web site.

Re-designed from the ground up for better usability, we hope it will continue to develop into a very valuable resource on the centre.

A total overhaul of the online entry system now gives you better access to your records and makes the entry system compatible with the eventual launch of the show jumping module

For 2009 we are launching a dressage innovation normally reserved for the top international competition:

Live Scoring.

Marks will be displayed on the computer screens as they are given, and upon finishing the test an immediate provisional mark will be awarded!

To make the whole site more accessible we have increased the number of news feeds - meaning any update to shows etc can be feed directly into your news reader software.

A Facebook style site updates box on the main index will also let you know of any recent changes in shows, online entries and schedules added.

Class Finder

Is another new innovation. Just type in the class you want and a list of shows holding that class will be displayed.

Results Finder

offers you a quick way of finding results based on rider and/or horse. This currently is only operating for dressage entries post 2004, but we are working hard to incorporate the old show jumping results.

As always comments are very much appreciated / invited - especially any typos!

We hope you visit Kingswood over the coming summer season and see the many changes we continue to make to improve our venue

All the best

Kingswood EC

Dressage Entry Information

CLARIFYING THE ENTRY PROCEDURE

The recent postal strike has highlighted the inconsistency with postal entries.

Please note that we DO NOT accept telephone entries for competitions - it is too difficult to track pieces of paper around the centre and this results in problems when competition day comes.

We prefer entries in the following order

  1. Internet
  2. Fax (with credit card details)
  3. In Person
  4. Post

Preference to entries in oversubscribed events will also be in the above order. The only absolutely guaranteed way to have an entry is online with accurate and available card details.

We hope, in this way, that everyone gets exactly what they expect from a dressage show at Kingswood.

TIMES BY TEXT

In reference to the recent problems with SMS times - the problem with messages not being delivered has now been resolved with our service provider.

Please ensure you provide us with a change of mobile number if this is necessary

Delays in sending times are due, in part, to competitors changing horses, classes, preferences etc at the last minute.

From now on, 4 days prior to the show is the absolute cut off period for anything to do with that show ie.

  • No entries
  • No changes
  • No adding preferences

With this in mind we should be able to do your times and get them sent out within the target 3 days prior to the show.

We thank you for your co-operation and assistance in this matter.

Important Trailblazers Rule

UPDATED 24th August 2008

Horses that are currently registered with BD or horses that have been registered within the preceding 12 months will not be allowed to compete at

  • Preliminary level with any BD points
  • Novice level with more than 60 points
  • Elementary level with more than 100 points

Should a horse be downgraded by BD, the points awarded will be accepted by Trailblazers.

We must ask that you pay a £10 deposit at this time to cover the cost of refunding the entry if you are wrong.

Assensio

Assensio is a super star in the making, having already been well placed in 4 yo evaluation at Sommerford Premier League May 2009.

He is a strong, willing and athletic horse with 3 good balanced paces.

To view his full pedigree, please click here

Assensio is set for a very bright future, with the leading dressage sire Gribaldi as his father and an exceptional quality Keur mother derived from Breeding Family 382

Gribaldi - KEUR ELITE

In 2009 his dressage index was uprated to 144 with a probabiliy of 96% passing this on.

Gribaldi was the 1996 Champion at the his stallion inspection in Neumünster. Under Dutch team rider Edward Gal, Gribaldi has become an internationally Grand Prix dressage stallion.

Gribaldi already has many licensed sons, including Anky van Grunsven's Painted Black. Based on the performance of Gribaldi's 7- and 8-year old offspring, the KWPN have recently proclaimed Gribaldi a Keur stallion.

In 2000 Gribaldi's first foals were evaluated at Neumünster. He was the sire of the Reserve Champion Stallion, and also of the approved stallion Distlezar, who sold after approval for $300,000 as a three year old. In the same year Gribaldi was the sire of Denmark's Champion stallion Zardin, and of the Danish approved stallion Rivaldi.

Gribaldi has numerous approved sons and daughters, passing on his extraordinary qualities to his babies.

Gribaldi has become the number one sire in Europe and he is very prepotent, producing very high caliber, uniform offspring and is in great demand. Gribaldi was the 1996 Champion of his stallion testing in Neumünster, Germany, a very coveted position.
In the year 2000 Gribaldi's first foal crop came up for evaluation at Neumünster. He was the sire of the Reserve Champion Stallion, Hofrat. He was also the sire of the approved stallion Distlezar, who sold after approval for $300,000 as a three year old! In that same year Gribaldi was also the sire of Denmark's Champion stallion Zardin, and of the Danish approved stallion Rivaldi. All from his first foal crop. Amazing!
In 2001, Gribaldi again sired the Reserve Champion Stallion, Hoftanzer and repeated his success in Denmark as well.
Gribaldi may just be the sire of the century, his bloodlines now available to you here through Rowena.
He has proven to pass on his qualities.

The successes of Gribaldi himself and his offspring in 2002 are too many to mention. Many mares placed high at the inspections and many of them passed their IBOP tests in Drachten and Deurne, Many competed in the PAVO cup and 15 made it to the semi finals.

winner of the 4 yr old dressage horses in Belgium was Rosenprinz D (Gribaldi x Rosenkavalier), in France it was Karamel de Lauture (Gribaldi x Donbito van de Helle), and second place winner was also by Gribaldi: Ko Re Grandbois

1995 Siegerhengst Trakehner Hengtskeuring in Neumunster (D)
1996 Topper of the KWPN stallion inspection in ‘sHertogenbosch
1996 successful stallion test
1997 Winner of the 4 yr stallion competition in 'sHertogenbosch. Jury member Albert Voorn: he is a dream to ride..
1997 reserve champion PavoCup of the 4 year old dressage horses
97/98 successful in de stallion competition
1998 2nd place stallion competition
1999 winner first round AMEV/Hippo cup
1999 competition category C, winner of 2 out of 4 rounds
2001 competing under Edward Gal in Prix St George.

Ester is prolilfic producer of horse, having been the mother of no less than 6 other offspring by Gribaldi - testament to the quality of this cross.

She is designated a Keur by the KWPN based on the quality of offspring she has produced. She herself competed at Z1 level (Advanced Medium)

She is also the mother of the international Grand Prix horse Indigo

Grand mother Marionne is a Keur Pref Prestatie mare - the highest of classifications of mother in the KWPN

Breeding Family 382 is one of the oldest in the KWPN, dating back to 1913. The line is responsible for no less than 11 international competition horses within the last generation alone.

It is the producer of approved sons such as Highness and prestatie mares such as Zita and Marionne (gd of Assensio)

With an unbelievable pedigree and striking presence and colour, he is going to make a World Class dressage horse.

From one of the most promising young stallions in the KWPN, out of a mare from breeding family 733, Ajout is a powerhouse with an excellent prospect as a dressage horse.

Tango

His 2009 dressage rating is now at 183 with a 69% reliability. This up from 179 with 60% reliability in 2008.

• The flair of Jazz and the power of Contango!
• A top model with a fantastic trotting mechanism.
• Reserve Champion dressage horse of the performance test 2003
• Winner under Hans Peter Minderhoud of the small Final of the World Championships in Verden 2005 !
• Recent results ZZ-Light. No1. 68,57% and No1. 65,17%
(Zevenaar 03-11-07)

I.P.S Tango was KWPN Reserve Performance Test Champion 2003.
In the beginning of 2005 I.P.S Tango under Hans Peter Minderhoud achieved a super result in the final of the Stallion Competition in Den Bosch. Consequently the stallion also competed in the World Championships for young horses in Verden.
Later on in the final of the Pavo Cup he was once again in the best 10.  Meanwhile it has become clear that he passes on his qualities to his offspring Below follows an overview.  From his very first crop in 2006 I.P.S Tango had no less than two sons approved by the KWPN.

• ZiZi Top  (Tango x Ferro x Officier) out of the direct dam of our stallion I.P.S Painted Black
• Zardando (Tango x Gribaldi x Contango)

Additionally the colt foal Bono O (Tango x Ferro) became CHAMPION at the Central inspections in Zeeland.  The description of the stallion I.P.S Tango in the magazine ‘in de strengen’  6 feb. 2006: “Tango has a strikingly beautiful forehand and trots with a lot of self-carriage.  He always portrays uphill movements with a notably good foreleg technique.  His ideally built forehand gains yet more expression when he is in motion.  The hindleg works correctly in his movements and pushes his body beautifully upwards.
Amor and Ghill Manor xx embellishes the pedigree of I.P.S Tango, which goes back to avondrood-line”.

That good quality horses come out of this line is reiterated by the following results:
• V-obertje (full sister of I.P.S Tango) Champion of the province Brabant and 6th place in the National Championship for 3 year-old dressage mares 2006. van
• Zhara-Obertje (full sister of I.P.S Tango) Champion of the province Brabant and also National Champion 2007 of the 3- year-old dressage mares.

Motherline - from Family 733

The ster mare Sajouty Retto derives from the Breeding family 733, from which horses have competed and been placed at the PAVO, prize winners in the stallion gradings, and selected for the Select KWPN Sales.

She is by Ferro

Olympic Ferro is the highest placed KWPN (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands) dressage stallion in Holland. Ferro and his rider Coby van Baalen form an exquisite couple. Out of the six stallions that have been approved in the stallion selection in Ermelo (2000) two were sons of Olympic Ferro: Paddox and Pyriet.
